Sweet and Sound
One of the perks of working in Chapter One is the high volume of cool people that come in and say hi. Todays awesome visitor was Shane who runs Sweet and Sound, something that had been going off on my radar for a while now...and so i want to use this blog to show you guys the good work Sweet and Sound is doing...
Now in London it seems that everyweek there is a new blog or magazine (who said print was dead?) intent on plunging the nail into Vices coffin...however amongst all the hordes, only the strong will survive...and Sweet and Sound is as strong as they come.
With a slant heavy on content, and a simple (almost too simple for some) design, the focus of this is, in my words...good shit! good articles, good photography...what more do you want?
Sweet and sound also organises parties, have their own tv channel and has some great things in the pipeline...so consider yourself warned! but more importantly, i feel with Sweet and Sound, they are another reason why London is slowly coming alive again...
Sweet and sound is an online site but with a printed magazine...and we have some copies in the gallery for £3...and they will be going online on monday in the shop

OUR ENDS V.2
REBEL zine
Today Samuel Francois kindly sent us some rare deadstock copies of a 2008 group show catalogue he was in called 'REBEL'.
The theme of the work in 'REBEL' is unsurprisingly based around the concept of rebellion and the characteristics of being a rebel.
Featuring Aurélien Arbet, Jean-Baptiste Bernadet, Claire Decet, Jérémie Egry, Morgan Fortems, Samuel François, Joe83, Olivier Kosta-Théfaine, Stefan Marx, David Meier, Justin Morin, Nano4814, Patrick Perrin, Gregory Wagenheim.
19x25cm
Edition of 300
ISBN : 978-2-9531409-1-0
We have 5 copies in the shop, and this publication was hard to find when it was just released...so this is perhaps you very last chance to grab a copy!!!

Images are starting to come in for our next show OUR ENDS...and below is a sneek peek at Michael Willis & Linsey Goodens contribution...a collection of new images printed on mirrored paper...OUR ENDS...coming soon!
PS DONT FORGET
PS DONT FORGET
Raymond Teitsma
I first met the awesome Raymond Teitsma last year when i was in Poland for a group show and he was giving GENESIS artist Merijn Hos a lift in his and his girls awesome van. In the back of the van was some of his framed works and this turned it into a mobile gallery. He had driven from the Netherlands and was heading south to Greece and not only was i in love with the idea of an European artistic easy rider-esque journey but i was instantly blown away by his work....Bold, colorful, playful, warped...instant great pop art with a punk twist - minimal childlike/naive/scary faces show scenes of brutality highlighting the evil and violence rather than softening them...i was hooked! Today i came into the gallery and he had sent some zines for the shop..and these zines are so good (below are some images)...needless to say - a must have!

Samuel Francois
Today we got a bundle of these awesome Samuel Francois posters!
As ever, photos suck...and the detail on this poster is incredible - look below at the skeleton - bet you didn't see that first time you saw the poster? Up close there are loads of little stickers and details that make this poster a must have...now up in the shop!
Also in the package was a copy of the ever great French magazine CLARK. In it is a fantastic 4 page feature on Samuel Francois (...looking fresh in the photo S'!), which goes to prove that we're not full of shit when we say that Samuel is an amazing talent and is rightfully blowing up in a big big way - remember 'you snooze you loose'...

Zine Round Up
As well as selling original artworks, Chapter One also aims to bring to London some of the finest zines and periodicals from around the world.
Today we put online what is currently available on the desk (which is our temporary zine home...)...BUT some of these zines are in real limited numbers and we have already sold out of some titles before we have had a chance to put them online, so if your in the area pop in and see if theres any new titles before they are gone...and to those online - keep checking back as these zines are honestly flying out!
We have some great stock on its way so keep your eyes peeled!

And we're OPEN!
Last night Chapter One opened it's doors to the masses, and if my hangover is anything to go by, the evening was a massive success. Three hundred friends, old and new filled the gallery and surrounding streets to enjoy some fantastic art and free booze.
Despite the usual technical hitches our mandate to re-vitalise London's contemporary art scene seems to be on track, with visiting artists Erosie and Stefan Marx flying in to meet the crowds and get drunk. We had a road-block crowd including Mudwig Dans, Pinky, James Lavelle, Miquita Oliver, Matt Sewell, Kyle Goodhood and Dave The Chimp!
After clearing up about two thousand empty bottles and glasses the party headed on to the player bar where we drunk every beer, wine and spirit known to man. Good times.
Big thanks to The Player bar, and our lovely drinks sponsors Vodka O, Estrella Damm and Fish Hoek, as well as absolutely everybody who came by to show love and support!
Anyone who missed the opening must come and check out the show! And for those of you not in the country, we will be uploading full images to our Flickr very soon.
Right. I need a bacon sandwich and a Lucozade. See you soon!
